Nuclear porn and cancer

Inside Climate News has the details on the status of decommissioning New York State's Indian Point nuclear power plant and how that relates to the congressional race there. Per my piece on Substack about the bullshit from Stewart Brand, cosigned by James Hansen, about wanting even breeder reactors, and about how they're so much safer than other power, and going back way back when, how coal plants kill so many more people?

This: 

A recent study led by Harvard University’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health found higher cancer mortality rates in counties near operating nuclear plants.

Wrong.

And, in the paragraph before that, if you're a real environmentalist, not a fake one like Brand, and I don't know what Hansen has written about conservation and wildlife biology, this:

Over the years, the plant leaked radioactive waste into groundwater, vented an estimated 600,000 gallons of radioactive steam into the atmosphere, spilled some 3,000 gallons of dielectric fluid and 100 gallons of oil into the river and on occasion raised nearby water temperatures by 15 degrees, killing fish and triggering environmental concerns.

Real environmentalists talk about the real issues with nuclear power. Period.
