"Punish ACORN' bill is indeed a bill of attainder, Mr. Const Law prez

Both lawyers and educated people...

Who said the "punish ACORN" bill was, indeed, a bill of attainder.

Are right.

Judge Gershon has made permanent her ruling from last year, despite the pleadings of our constitutional law scholar president's DOJ to reconsider:

I just lost yet more respect for the Obama Administration, and the man in charge.
In asking the judge to reconsider her December ruling, the government cited a Dec. 7 report written by Scott Harshbarger, former attorney general for Massachusetts. It said the report "reinforces Congress' purpose in preventing fraud, waste and abuse" by describing ACORN's long-standing management problems.

The report concluded that ACORN leadership at every level was thin, the government noted.

The judge, however, wrote that it was "unmistakable that Congress determined ACORN's guilt before defunding it." She said Congress is entitled to investigate ACORN but cannot "rely on the negative results of a congressional or executive report as a rationale to impose a broad, punitive funding ban on a specific, named organization."

Beyond my respect level for Obama going down yet further, I also wonder if somebody has a list of every Member of Congress, of whatever political party affiliation, who is a lawyer and still voted for this bill in the first place.

Is Breitbart a criminal?

Conservative agent provacateur Andrew Breitbart still refuses to release full, unedited tapes of his staffers various "punkings" of ACORN offices, despite yet another prosecutor's office finding yet another ACORN office innocent of all criminal allegations.

The prosecutors found, in part, the tapes presented as "evidence" were heavily edited.
A law enforcement source ... : "(James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles) edited the tape to meet their agenda."

Does such editing approach the level of giving a false statement to police, which is itself a criminal offense in every state in the nation?

Perhaps that's why Breitbart, at the same link, refuses to say why he won't release unedited tapes, and stumbles over the entire question.

Or, a lawsuit worry might be on Breitbart's mind. I can see an action against him, for authorizing O'Keefe/Giles, and the two of them, of course, for defamation.

What the MSLBs may not tell you about ACORN

Mainstream liberal bloggers are right that there’s a difference between election fraud or voter fraud, on the one hand, and registration fraud on the other.

They probably WON’T tell you, though, about the quotas ACORN headquarters reportedly gives to field offices.

An idiot could predict what Clifton Mitchell and others in his Seattle office did.

Look, this is like sales.

If ACORN wants to finish the job of addressing this issue, it will hold back at least part of field employees’ pay until signatures have been verified with state authorities — and not just pre-verified by ACORN.

Beyond this, all this stuff is like working the refs in a basketball game.

Our two-party duopoly presidentialism-based elections exacerbate the whole “working the refs” problem and you get stuff like this.

But, neither Democratic nor Republican punditry, whether in the MSM or the blogosphere, is highly inclined to tell the whole truth about this.

FBI has millions for ACORN but not one cent for Wall Street

The Eff Bee Eye says it is struggling to find resources, and agents, to investigate years of Wall Street shenanigans.

But, it apparently has no problem finding resources and agents to investigation ACORN.

Of course, it’s not all the FBI’s fault. It’s been asking for more money to investigate financial crime since 2004, but our MBA president just hasn’t been forthcoming. According to former law enforcement officials, that would be anti-business and “overdeterrence.”
