Dear Leader now wants to open a far larger prison at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan. You know what that also means, don't you? He has no plans for the U.S. tot totally leave there.
So, Obamiacs? Stop passing around that fake, and out-of-date, website about "what Obama's done." If there's no room for comments there, I'll rip your fucking head off on your blog, on Facebook, on Google-Plus or wherever.
The man's a warmonger. Deal with it.
A skeptical leftist's, or post-capitalist's, or eco-socialist's blog, including skepticism about leftism (and related things under other labels), but even more about other issues of politics. Free of duopoly and minor party ties. Also, a skeptical look at Gnu Atheism, religion, social sciences, more.
Note: Labels can help describe people but should never be used to pin them to an anthill.

Fed court has a big fail on detainee rights
How a federal appeals court could rule that U.S. detainees at its Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan have no habeas appeal rights, despite the Supreme Court saying detainees in similar situation at Guantanamo do, I don't know, but the D.C. Court of Appeals made just that claim.

Team Obama delays Gitmo report for months – why
Why? At Newsweek, Greg Isikoff has the primary reason — people still arguing for Obama’s right to indefinitely detain people — along with a number of lesser reasons.
But, he misses the other biggie. Another six months is probably about enough time to finish the expansion of Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, aka Gitmo 2.0.

Obama can’t hide people in ‘Gitmo East’
In a far-reaching ruling that has gotten little MSM airplay in the U.S. so far, District Judge John Bates has ruled detainees at Bagram Air Base have the right to challenge their detentions in U.S. civilian courts.
At the very moment Team Obama is expanding Bagram (little noted in either the MSM or MSLBs), and less than six weeks after the Obama, not Bush, Justice Department claimed Bagram detainees had no such rights, this victory is HUGE, as Daphne Eviatar further explains.

Obama on ‘60 Minutes’ – has Geithner sandbagged him?
Thursday, he told Jay Leno on “The Tonight Shows” he was “stunned” by the bonuses themselves. Three nights later, he tells Steve Kroft on “60 Minutes” that, regarding public reaction to the bonuses, “I wasn't surprised by it. Our team wasn't surprised by it.”
Well, since everybody now knows that Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner has lied about when he first knew about the bonuses, we have a bit of a quandary here.
Did Obama also know early? Nobody’s directly asked him that question yet.
Or, did Geithner sandbag him?
Or was it just an honest slip-up by an overtaxed Geithner?
I think Option 2, perhaps, being charitable, with a bit of Option 3 in the mix, is the most likely.
That said, Obama also indicated he’s listening to long-term budget worries, and told Kroft, in essence, there’s a limit to what the government can spend.
Obama later tipped his hand that he might continue to be Bush Light on the War on Terror, however he renames it or its participants:
Unfortunately, in asking about the war in Afghanistan, Kroft asked not a word about the expansion of Bagram Air Base into Gitmo 2.0.

Now-- do these folks deserve Miranda rights? Do they deserve to be treated like a shoplifter-- down the block? Of course not.

Bagram – Obama’s Gitmo?
Well, if President Obama is planning on expanding the prison at our Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, aas Salon reports, hell, yes, it’s his Gitmo.
Especially since he seems ready to run it the same way Bush ran Gitmo.
