If ever someone of the female sex epitomized the idea that if you're going to lie, tell Hitlerian whoppers, it's her.
In her recent interview, she lyingly, no other word for it, once again claimed to have shown the public Trig Palin's birth certificate. Now, it doesn't seem that either of her older two daughters could really be the mom, so what's she hiding? Is former First Dude Todd not the husband? That, since Bristol's pregnancy ruled out her parenthood, has always been the "secret" that I have assumed Sarah is hiding.

People Mag - Cousin Itt Palin has arrived
According to People, Bristol Palin has a baby boy named Tripp.

Nope, nobody posting in comments had that name picked. And, no, the kid's actual first name isn't Drug.
Now, even this does not rule out the timeline that Bristol, not Sarah Palin, was the mother of Trig. The Dec. 20 due date for Bristol with little Tripper wasn't publicly announced until relatively late in the pregnancy. But, it does crimp that possibility somewhat. And, at 7 lbs., 4 oz., Tripp wasn't born two months prematurely.
As for Bristol's own timeline on this pregnancy, I earlier leaned toward the idea of this being real, then, later on, leaned away. Well, one can always second-guess oneself. I really changed my mind the most after listening to Audrey, proprietor of Palin’s Deceptions and the PD blog. She said, about a week before Christmas or so, she had been interviewed by the Anchorage Daily News, with the story supposedly coming out any time now.
Well, the story is out now. I'll check in at her blog later tonight or tomorrow morning, and I will also check in with the Anchorage Daily News. The ADN, earlier today, had only a snippet from the People story, and no original reporting. I have a bit of skeptical antennae-raising over what might be up with that, and even more cynical vomiting that the Palin family would be in contact with an entertainment mag first. Also, note that little Tripper was born Sunday, and, in the era of instantaneous Internet news, we get nothing for more than 24 hours?
Doesn't that about say it all with the Alaskan Addams Family?

Dec. 20; when is Cousin Itt Palin popping out of the oven?
Well, according to all and sundry in the Palin Family Circus, Bristol Palin was supposed to be giving birth to either Trig Palin’s nephew/niece, or sibling, Dec. 20.
And, ahem, Wasilla, Alaska, it is now Dec. 20. And, still no official sign of the little bastard, to use an old conservative Christian term that Sarah Palin should like; Bristol and Levi Johnson still are not married.
First, per a link below, I’m all a-quiver waiting for hospital room, birth, delivery and other on-site, time-of-arrival baby pictures.

Oh, I’m sorry, I meant the pictures we didn’t get of Trig and Sarah at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.
As I said, I’m all a-quiver waiting for hospital room, birth, delivery and other on-site, time-of-arrival baby pictures. Don’t tell me there isn’t an actual little bundle of joy popping out of the Bristol Palin nurturing womb!
This IS newsworthy, the most newsworthy Alaska birth since Ted Stevens hatched his first barrel of oil, after all
That said, she does appear to be actually pregnant; actually nine months pregnant? It’s hard to say; per the pictures at the linked blog post, she put on a lot of pregnancy weight/size gain early, then little after that.
I’m assuming, of course, that Sarah Palin’s parents aren't part of a conspiracy so vast we would be into conspiracy theorizing at this point. But, given the fact there is probably some sort of family dysfunction behind the Whore of Wasilla attending half a dozen different colleges and universities before graduating, maybe that is not a well-warranted assumption.
That’s also ignoring the puffery factor in their Grandparents interview. (Note: Until proven otherwise, I am operating under the assumption that Bristol’s due date is real; I think Palin’s Deceptionsand the PD blog may have to re-adjust, though Audrey has dropped playing that angle in recent weeks.

About 10 days ago, Andrew Sullivan refuted Michelle Malkin calling this tin-foil hat territory, and says he talked to multiple ob/gyn docs about how likely/unlikely Sarah Palin's story was. You know the answer, but, they were polite about their “unlikely” comments. (I hope they’re telling Bristol not to be flying anywhere today!)
Sullivan also has a strong narrative questioning Palin's medical nonchalance.
Beyond providing a birth certificate, or offering some logical explanation for why Palin hasn't, the real tin-foil hatters, the one for whom Ms. Sarah is the female Messiah, need to explain why the hospital where Trig Palin was allegedly born has no record of the event. Yes, it’s optional, but nobody has claimed Gov. Whazzup was in the hospital that day.
Meanwhile, late last month, Palin Deception’s blog shows that pics from Bristol's prom may be from a previously unmentioned possible fourth prom date and so do NOT prove she is not Trig's mom.
Palin Deception’s blog also scrutinizes Mercedes Johnston's MySpace pix and concludes they were shot at Palin's house and not a birthing room in Mat-Su. Audrey says that, beyond that, they aren't really evidence for or against either Bristol or Sarah as Trig's mom; readers speculate a third possibility, that Mercedes is the mom via Sarah's son and Bristol's brother, Track, or that the baby was adopted from Mercedes and Levi's mom.
And, Sully tells us why Palin still matters:
Because of that, because he notes Palin still has “no self-awareness,” and because he says the MSM abdicated responsibility on Palin, he promises to “stay on the case.”

Until we figure out how this happened, we will not be able to prevent it from happening again. And we have to find a way to prevent this from recurring.

Show me the Trig Palin birth certificate
My overall summary is that Sarah is Trig's mom. But, that Todd Palin is not necessarily Trig's father. (And, per Joe McGinness, yes, Palin having an affair that resulted in pregnancy would surprise me not one bit.) That is why she couldn't risk giving birth in Texas, or even in Anchorage, if there's any way to "explain" her rushed flight back home where her water broke. And, yes, First Dude Todd was flying with her. And, he may have known he had been cuckolded. But he was First Dude, not some "fish packer from I'll Ask Ya," so what was he going to do at that point? File for divorce like now?
New update, Sept. 9, 2019: I posted this on Twitter after news of Sarah and Todd filing to get divorced, a potential divorce that was first rumored a decade ago. To be more clear on some things, I've done some strikethroughs on musings from the past, pre-2017 and well, pre-2011, that I had later rejected. Namely, that's most of what Andrew Sullivan, for whatever reasons, was claiming based on a non-source "source" who turned out to have low-level credibility.
Anyway, I still don't think Todd is Trig's dad. So, who is? Maybe Todd will tell, now that they're divorced? Could come out in child support issues, right? Speaking of, you can hit (or see after it's expired) this Twitter poll.
I do know that two years later, in the middle of ongoing controversy, Mat-Su Regional, Palin's hospital of birth, still had not made a birth certificate public, nor had Palin. I do know that SEVEN years later, in 2015, even as Palin doubled down on birtherism over Obama's birth certificate, she still refused to produce one for Trig.
Anyway, that's just another way in which Ms. Family Values, the Quitter with a Twitter, is a massive hypocrite. She earns every bit of kicking she gets.
Apologies for some links being dead. This was a decade ago; on this issue, I have personal reason to lament link rot.
One final note: Wingnut Robert Stacy McCain, the so-called "other McCain," said he knew who Audrey of Palin's Deception, really Anne Briggs was, and it played out. That was the final nail in the fake pregnancy coffin, though I was already moving away from it.

First, if top McCain campaign op Steve Schmidt is publicly bitching about Trig Palin paternity questions to the point of breaking alleged off-the-record media conversations (and further damaging his boss’s free ride with the media in the process, this story has legs. Long legs.
Here’s more Schmidt bitching, via Howie Kurtz, where he complains the campaign is “under siege.”

News organizations routinely ask questions about allegations in an attempt to determine their veracity, and Schmidt did not contend that they were publishing or broadcasting false information about Palin and her family.So, Schmidt isn’t denying at least the possibility of truth behind the rumors, just trying to quash the questioning.
Politically speaking, as I note in my roundup of Day 4 of the Palin follies, Palin herself is gun-shy about this issue. But, since B.O. is running Post-Partisan Politics™, someone outside the Democratic establishment will have to keep pushing the political leverage of this issue.
Second, the biggest piece of empirical evidence so far on Trig’s date and place of birth, and therefore on his parentage, is evidence of absence, or absence of evidence. Here’s the webpage of Mat-Su Regional Medical Center births, for April 18, 2008. See who’s NOT listed? Oh, and in case something was wrong on the date? No births at all are shown for either April 17 or April 19.
This is 2008. If the state of Alaska doesn’t itself have electronic copies of birth certificates available as PDFs, it would take a Palin staffer about 2 minutes to make one.
And, in either case, 30 seconds to upload to the Palin campaign website.
We would take a look, assess the genuineness of what was purported to be the Trig Palin birth certificate and go from there.
It’s as simple as that, Gov. Palin. And John McCain. And Steve Schmidt.
Finally, the “motive” question.
Also, I disagree with Josh Marshall’s contention that Schmidt is spinning this as political smokescreen to divert attention away from Troopergate and other areas of Palin incompetence or ethical shortcomings.
He may have latched onto it for that purpose, but it still has a life beyond that.
Beyond that, it’s a shorthand for how Palin’s camp, and McCain’s honchos, can’t provide straightforward information to the most simple of issues.
Well, given that between Troopergate, in the investigation of which she now refuses to testify (PDF), her untruths about the “bridge to nowhere” and other reforming efforts she allegedly has pushed, and more, her image is now in tatters, if the Mommy Trig line is just another untruth, albeit one that more than any of her others, goes directly to character, it wouldn’t surprise me.

And, that all said, if she has been telling and living a lie with Trig, I think she’d have nothing but to gain now by coming out with the truth before any more damage is done.

Sarah Palin, in her "I'm healthy" letter from likely pregnancy deceptionist Dr. Cathy Baldwin-Johnson, had one-third of the letter devoted to issues related to her alleged pregnancy with Trig Palin.

Why Steve Schmidt won’t deny the Palin rumors
Given that John McCain campaign guru Schmidt is the single person who pushed Sarah Palin on John McCain, he, more than anybody else in the McCain camp, knows what’s true and what’s not about stories about Trig Palin’s parentage and Sarah Palin’s alleged affair.

Palin follies Day 6 — bombshell affair allegations ramp up personal spotlight
New personal-life rumors — this time of alleged affair — dog Palin camp; viciousness of Schmidt response indicates strength of political traction
We’ll start with the more sedate stuff of the day first, then let you the reader scroll down for details on the teaser.
First, Palin may play well to GOP red meaters, but NOT to independents in Michigan
or, even more importantly, women independents in Nevada, who also didn’t like it. That “PUMA appeal” gets slimmer by the day, doesn’t it?
The Palin speech? Wingers are already lying to cover up for how much of a clusterfuck Palin’s delivery was last night, but her TelePrompTer did NOT break. A glitch or two is a different thing. Next thing, the conservative bloviosphere will claim she trudged miles in Alaskan snows, uphill both ways, to deliver the damn thing.

Hey, Steverino, the Enquirer got John Edwards’ affair right even as the MSM sat on the issue for a good year. So, sue away, and increase the PR damage by giving it credibility.

The Trig Palin paternity issue has already gotten under Schmidt’s skin; combine the two, and it’s clear the McCain camp is HUGELY worried about her personal issues.
It’s also interesting how, outside the Enquirer itself, the best info about the Palin affair allegations seems to be from the British media. Instead, sadly, the Palin family seems more like it could be a “family systems therapy” exhibit in a college Psych 101 textbook. Or an Alaska TV riff on the Addams Famil;y.

Next thing, the conservative bloviosphere will claim she trudged miles in Alaskan snows, uphill both ways, to deliver the damn thing.
Troopergate update — Fired former Alaska Commissioner of Public Safety Walt Monegan says Palin is lying:
“I think there are some questions now that, coming to light about how transparent and how honest she wants to be,” Monegan said.

McCain campaign honcho Steve Schmidt threatens to sue National Enquirer for allegations Palin had an affair; according to the mag, Palin allegedly had an affair with a “former business associate” of her husband, Todd Palin.
“The allegations contained on the cover of the National Enquirer insinuating that Governor Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false. It is a vicious lie... The American people will reject it.”
Hey, Steverino, the Enquirer got John Edwards’ affair right even as the MSM sat on the issue for a good year. So, sue away, and increase the PR damage by giving it credibility.
Indeed, the Enquirer itself tells Schmidt just where to get off:

Beyond that, isn’t it funny how we’re hearing more and more about Palin’s private life, and how, per my show me the birth certificate post, this does have political legs — it is actually getting under the McCain camp’s skin, big-time.
The Trig Palin paternity issue has already gotten under Schmidt’s skin; combine the two, and it’s clear the McCain camp is HUGELY worried about her personal issues.

The Palin baby, Palin grandbaby and privacy – this should be an issue
Let’s cut past this BULLSHIT line of “privacy” that Sarah Palin is spouting about her daughter’s first, or second pregnancy.
First, when did the Religious Right part of the GOP start caring about people’s privacy, whether on reproductive choice, gay/lesbian sexuality, or even what movie you or I want to rent or download, in terms of sexual content?
They have MADE this a non-privacy issue, even if B.O. and his Kumbaya post-partisan-political world (Obama PPP in future references) will give her and Bristol a kid-gloves pass, in all likelihood.
But, he (and his blogging defenders at sites like TPM who accuse me of a National Review mentality) are wrong, if for no other reason than reversing Clauswitz and saying that American politics is war by other means.
Unfortunately, quasiliberal bloggers like Steve Benen at Washington Monthly are falling for the line that this should not be an issue.
Second, the gov brought up daughter Bristol’s first/second pregnancy on her own, in response to the rumors that the Gov’s alleged fifth child is actually her grandchild via Palin. As I’ve said before, the Gov had reason to do so, to keep her Good Mommyhood Seal of Approval™ from the Religious Right intact.
The fact she brought it up on her own means she’s gun-shy on this issue.
If MoveOn hadn’t been turds in a toilet and actually agreed to B.O.’s request to shut down 527 operations, we’d already be getting punches landed.
Third, beyond the idea that chances of a Down syndrome child increase with maternal age, the Gov. has otherwise addressed exactly none of the empirical issues that led to his speculation in the first place.
And, given my skeptical left-liberal take on BOTH parties of the two-party duopoly, this is a fitting post for No. 4,000 at this blog.
Update: More fun – a Palin spokesperson didn’t even know about Bristol’s pregnancy just two days ago.
Beyond being “more fun,” it would also be more confirmation of a motive the Gov. would have if she has a grandbaby already instead of a fifth daughter. And, that motive would be that she’s got practice at this type of deception, as well as shame over her daughter’s pregnancy.
