A skeptical leftist's, or post-capitalist's, or eco-socialist's blog, including skepticism about leftism (and related things under other labels), but even more about other issues of politics. Free of duopoly and minor party ties. Also, a skeptical look at Gnu Atheism, religion, social sciences, more.
Note: Labels can help describe people but should never be used to pin them to an anthill.

Windoze Vista officially sux
And Microslob admits it, extending the cutoff for XP to be available to custom computer builders. Essentially, you’ll be able to get XP until Windoze 7 comes out.

Windows Vista really is crap – SP1 says so
Microsoft has just released the long-awaited/dreaded Service Pack 1 for Vista and the file is huge. It’s 435 megabytes at Microsoft’s downloads window.
Holy crap. For a file that size, you could build a new OS from scratch.
How huge? It will take more than an hour to download — on broadband.

Irony alert: top Microsoft execs burned by the crap called Vista
This is so effing funny. Mike has a laptop he says is now a $2,100 e-mail machine, as it lacks chips to run a full Vista. Jon finds out an upgrade from XP to Vista is missing drivers for his printer and other peripherals. And Steven tells Jon that’s a system-wide issue.
Who are these people?
You made your bed, Bill Gates-style, gentlemen. Now sleep in it.
And, your company is facing a class-action lawsuit on those “Windows Vista Capable” stickers slapped on laptops it turns out were actually $2,100 e-mail machines. I’m sure Mike Nash will make an excellent, if hostile, witness for the plaintiffs.
Who are these people?
Mike Nash (is) a Microsoft vice president who oversees Windows product management. And Jon, who is dismayed to learn that the drivers he needs don’t exist? That’s Jon A. Shirley, a Microsoft board member and former president and chief operating officer. And Steven, who reports that missing drivers are anything but exceptional, is in a good position to know: he’s Steven Sinofsky, the company’s senior vice president responsible for Windows.
