Passive Pelosi™ whines in self-defense, says flat NO to impeachment

Her statement came during a protest-interrupted speech at American University of Judaism in Los Angeles.

Among other things, she defended her, and Congressional Democrats’, pitiful performance the last 18 months:
“Whether it’s the deficit or the challenges to the constitution we have to dig our way out,” Pelosi said, adding “this election is like death for life on this planet as we know it today.”

No, life and death was the FISA vote, and civil liberties died.

So, Peter Thottam, founder of the LA Impeachment Center, challenged her to “do her job”:
“Who gave you the right to take the constitution and shove it down the toilet? Who gave you the right to take impeachment off the table? Nobody told them to do this,” Thottam shouted at Pelosi moments before Secret Service agents removed him from the packed auditorium and turned him over to officers with the Los Angeles Police Department. “One million Iraqis are dead. Five thousand Americans are dead. You have destroyed the First, Second, Fourth, Fifth and Eighth Amendments.”

After the speech, during book signing, she refused to mention the idea of inherent contempt against Karl Rove or others, and passed the buck on “ordinary” contempt charges to House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers.

Run, Cindy, Run!

Run, Cindy, Run!

Cindy Sheehan is now officially on the November ballot as an independent challenger to Nancy Pelosi.

Given Passive Pelosi™ action on the FISA mutilation bill, as well as failure to do more to cut off, restrict, slow down or otherwise constrain funding for Iraq, at a minimum, best of luck to you, Cindy.

Note to Democratic voter enablers – vote Green

How many progressive Democratic voters are gong to bitch after Passive Pelosi™, Slippery Steny and Hardly Relevant Harry Reid ram telecom immunity down the collective public throat, but then pull the “D” lever in November, not just for their particular Member of Congress, but for Democrats as a party?

You know the answer.

Lots.

You’re enablers.

And spare me the bullshit about electing Republicans by voting Green.

In the middle of the Gilded Age, Greenback Party and Populist Party voters didn’t buy that bullshit. They kept voting populist as James Garfield

And eventually, starting with William Jennings Bryan, Democrats started incorporating elements of the Populist platform

Did Socialists back down from supporting Eugene Debs in 1920 for fear of Harding becoming president, even though Debs was running for president from a jail cell? Hell, no, and he got his best showing ever.

Did millions of Progressives shy away from voting for Henry Wallace in 1948? Not at all.

Send some love to Cindy Sheehan in her campaign against Pelosi. Don’t “enable” Democrats any more.

Sheehan officially challenging Pelosi

Antiwar protestor Cindy Sheehan is officially starting the process tochallenge Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi as an independent candidate for Congress this fall.

She’s going to need a little help, in the form of 10,198 friends and supporters, 3 percent of 2006 voters in Pelosi’s district who were registered for the 2006 general election.

That shouldn’t be too hard. Now, how well Sheehan, the mother of deceased soldier Casey Sheehan, does in the general election, is another thing.

I’m not expecting her to win, but I would LOVE for her to get at least 10 percent of the vote.

And, if she did surprise me, and everybody else, and pull off this upset, all the better.

Pelosi also has a primary challenge from San Francisco activist Shirley Golub.

And, not so fast on dissing Sheehan, Mr. Chronicle staff writer John Wildermuth. Yes, Democrats may outnumber Republicans 56-10 percent among registered voters, but that means 34 percent of registered voters in the district are unaffiliated, and I’m betting most of them ain’t libertarian types.

Beyond that, San Franciscans nearly elected a Green in the last mayoral election. If Sheehan is comfortable running on an official Green platform and the local Green Party is ready to pull the trigger, it could really be fun.
