Obama: First female Prez?

Riffing on Maya Angelou's famous observation about Bill Clinton, Kathleen Parker raises the above rhetorical question about Obama.

Stereotypes aside, and also setting aside how much of real male-female relational and socializing style in America is cultural and how much is genetically engendered, I'd say Parker isn't all wrong.

That said, is Obama's style "wrong"? No. But, if it's ineffectual, the search for compromise, or getting along, or whatever, has to be junked. Unless you'd prefer being popular (or trying to be popular, or conciliatory) to being effective.

That’s the money quote from Kathleen Parker. And, the “flexibly conservative” columnist, who would be at least as good as Douthat on the NYT pages, says, he’s more right than wrong.

At the same time, she calls “hypocrisy alert” on folks like Voinovich:

Though Voinovich's views may be shared by others in the party, it's a tad late -- not to mention ungrateful -- to indict the South. Republicans have been harvesting Southern votes for decades from seeds strategically planted during the civil rights era.

Kathleen Parker in danger of losing winger magic decoder ring

Wingnut columnists and talk radio hosts have been riding Kathleen Parker’s case for a few months about not wearing a tinfoil hat when talking about President Barack Obama.

Well, citing his “testosterone under control” diplomacy in his first major trip abroad, Parker says he acquitted himself well. The nutgraf is down at the bottom, re wingnuts:

Playground wisdom holds that showoffs are usually overcompensating, and the strongest one has nothing to prove. When you're the big dog, you can afford to smile. The saber is understood.
