Four weeks ago, on the Friday before Martin Luther King Day, in worries of cold and a "wintry mix" that I expected wouldn't happen (and didn't), Texas Department of Transportation's Wichita Falls District decided to "pre-treat" roads with brine then, because MLK Day is a state holiday and they didn't want to pay overtime by calling out crews on that day.
Well, last I checked, Presidents Day is a state holiday, too.
And, already last Friday, a much more definite possibility of "wintry mix" or plain old "ice" was in the forecast than what TxDOT was worried about four weeks ago.
But, as of Friday evening, TxDOT Wichita Falls and its PIO had NOT announced pre-treating.
