His call to privatize offensive wars like Iraq will show that he’s not really anti-war or even anti-Iraq war, just a libertarian taking a libertarian stance on one more issue that almost every non-libertarian in our country will reject.
It’s clear that, libertarian ideas of civil liberties aside, Paul cares not a whit about what mercenaries would or would not do as far as war crimes. He also doesn’t look at the idea that mercenaries (as we have already seen) would be more likely to commit some sort of war crimes than national soldiery, and, still being traceable to the United States, give us even more of an international black eye than we now have. Nor, given that libertarians seem to think that lawsuits are an answer for regulatory agencies, does he deal with the possibility of the United States getting sued over mercenaries’ behavior or other issues.
Paul has come off as a libertarian nutbar on many other issues; it is now clear he is a libertarian nutbar on Iraq, too.

Huh? Who said he wanted to privatize the Iraq war? All he suggested is that we send mercenaries after people like bin Laden (who did attack us) instead of waging war on countries that harbor him. It's less expensive and it mirrors the tactics countries used to use on pirates.
That article in the Des Moines Registered has been shown to be full of errors. It at first stated that Ron Paul was for amnesty, which he is not. They corrected that. He is also is not for private wars against other countries. He is for letters of marque against specific individuals that commit attacks against us such as Al queda leadership. I would hope you that you research the issue some and not rely on shoddy journalism from the Des Moines Register.
I'm disappointed that only two of Ron's Nutbars, both anonymous, have posted here so far.
I think the story speaks for itself; Paul's own quote, "This suggests what is going on right now," clearly refers to Blackwater, et al, already in Iraq.
The Register's editor notes the error on amnesty, but no error is noted on Paul's war stance.

The American people are against those in Washington starting illegal preemptive unnecessary wars, spying on the American people, and spending money they do not have. A big problem with our electoral process is that the old media generally supports the richest candidates (who got their money from special interest). Those are the worst candidates because they are owned by special interest and lobbyists. Hopefully the internet will help restore balance and choice.
