San Antonio Congresscritter Tony Gonzales faced excommunication Saturday from the Texas GOP executive committee over his stancs on things like wanting some gun control issues, post-Uvalde (which is in his district) and calling out cheap GOP attempts to politicize the border. (Biden's giving them much of what they want, anyway. It wasn't "excommunication," only censure, but by not even showing up, Gonzales indicated what he thought of it.
And, he has been so censured.
He actually got 5 votes in support of him. No word if there's going to
be some challenge to those 5 in the future. As the Trib notes, the last
time the state committee censured a Republican official, it was San
Antonio non-wingnut Joe Straus. He ain't a "moderate," Trib; things like this, your GOP Overton window drifting, undercut your standing.

And, the first rat has already filed to challenge him. Funky Wingnut Medina, Julie Clark, Medina County GOP head, is in the race. I'm sure there will be many others
