Reportedly, as he considered his free agency landing spot, his wife made a list of pros and cons for Dallas-Fort Worth, New York and then, of course, Philadelphia. No surprise that the traffic in the DFW Metromess was a big No.
That said, a big yes to Philly on the Lee list?
One reason he chose the Phillies over either the stRangers or Yankees?
It's a National League team and "he loves to hit."
A skeptical leftist's, or post-capitalist's, or eco-socialist's blog, including skepticism about leftism (and related things under other labels), but even more about other issues of politics. Free of duopoly and minor party ties. Also, a skeptical look at Gnu Atheism, religion, social sciences, more.
Note: Labels can help describe people but should never be used to pin them to an anthill.

Arlington is about 30 minutes outside of Fort Worth. The traffic in that area really isn't that bad. I think the Rangers were too fledgeling, they are the new upstarts. I know she didn't like NY because of them heckling her during the playoffs. Phillie had a great pediatric hospital for his son who had leukemia and they are building a solid track record of playoff appearances.
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine told me about the leukemia angle. But, Lee's wife and Lee himself said the Yankee fan story was more myth than reality, so scratch that. On traffic? Arlington itself isn't always that bad, but, if you live in the greater Dallas part of the DFW Metromess, it IS. (Former Metromess resident.) And, it can be that bad in Arlington; Six Flags and a big water park are both within spitting distance of the Ballpark.
ReplyDeleteIt also doesn't hurt that he is playing in the NL, look at what it has done for Halladay.
