Hitchens takes Benedict XVI to the woodshed

Cardinal Herr Ratzinger, now the current 'His Holiness,' has plenty to apologize for on the German sex abuse scandal. A Vatican-imposed statute of limitations on abused people filing claims?

And, yes, per my previous post on John Paul II and his stalled sainthood, "Herr Ratzinger" is exactly the epithet he deserves, with all it implies.

  1. God forgive you because you have a damaged brain. Mom and Dad do too many drugs and you are the resualt of them? First if you are not Catholic it's none of your concern. Second it sounds like you are a racist. Are you so stupid to think that this has not happened in other settings and been kept from the public? Learn about child predators they will interagrate themselves where ever they can. The Catholic Church is the only one that turns the other cheak and pays out to many who jump on the lawsuites for what they can extort from their own church. Why not talk about the Moslem's killing innocent children??

  2. Oh, so if a crime was committed and covered up, just because it wasn't done to me, it's not my concern? Boy, if THAT ain't a new form of moral relativism. Look to the 2x4 in your own eye before criticizing Muslims, too, per Jesus' own words.

Second, me? A racist? Hah. You're obviously not a regular reader of my blog.

Third, I've done nothing in need of "forgiveness." Suggestions like yours are usually psychological power plays.

Fourth, there is no "one" to forgive me. "There is no god and I am his prophet."

  3. Fifth, these were criminal acts and therefore not "none of (my) concern." They were the concerns of the secular state. Two kingdoms, two swords.

  4. Sixth, given that the Vatican claims to be a sovereign nation state, and one with whom the US has diplomatic relations, and there's international conventions on child abuse, etc., Ratzi the Nazi's collusion is also my concern as an American citizen.

(Oh, and I love how "Anonymous" hid beyond being anonymous.)
