Housing decline hits two-year mark

With a 0.9 percent decline in Feburary, residential construction has now had a full two years of consecutive monthly declines.

The falloff helped pull down overall construction numbers in February 0.3 percent. Only government construction was up, underscoring Congressional Democrats’ contention a month ago that a public-works program could be a key part of an economic stimulus package.

But, you know the story.

Democrats let that be stripped out of the final version of stimulus legislation.
