The World Trade Organization said the European Union’s ban on hormone-raised beef was not scientifically justified, but that the U.S. and Canada failed to follow WTO protocols in retaliatory steps. So what next? Both sides can appeal, and it sounds like Brussels will.
That said, even if the EU does not have scientific support for its objections, the absence of current evidence against the safety of something should not be interpreted as unqualified support for its safety.
