The 70 percent solution for Iraq

For some time, about 70 percent of Americans have thought President Bush has been wrong on Iraq. Well, 70 percent of Iraqis want us out.

If more of our 70 percent would speak up about getting us out of Iraq, rather than either being politically passive or saying we can only leave when things get better, we might get somewhere.

After all, we know that at least a portion of Iraq’s 70 percent supports the “speaking out” of a suicide bomber killing 40 at the same time U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney talked about ‘phenomenal’ progress there in security improvements.

Of course, 40 percent of Iraqis say they want more U.S. involvement. Well, you can’t have 110 percent of people holding diametrically opposed opinions, thereby showing how unscientific opinion polls still are, not only in America but around the world.

And the real 70 percent solution would be to leave Dick Cheney in Iraq 70 percent of the time.
